ClickGrid on Shownotes.info
I changed some of the advertising space on shownotes.info to a ClickGrid space several weeks ago. I was contacted by the guy behind ClickGrid who wanted to use some ad space on shownotes.info to help get his service off the ground. At first I was a little skeptical, but I decided that since I wasn’t exactly raking in the big bucks at present I may as well try something new.
The concept of a ClickGrid is somewhat similiar to the Million Dollar Home Page concept. Of course, that idea is stupid and gimmicky and wouldn’t work again. The concept with ClickGrid is a bit more sustainable. The idea with ClickGrid is that the grid is a small section of page real estate that would otherwise be dedicated to some other form of advertising.
I believe the plan is to let site owners determine how much they want to charge per pixel, but in my case I decided that $20 for a 10×10 block for 6 months seemed fair. The nice thing about using a service like ClickGrid on shownotes.info is that it’s not the mishmash you get at the MDHP - shownotes.info is a targeted site that is visited by those who are interested in podcasting. If you have a podcast or a podcasting related site, it makes perfect sense to want to advertise it there. And I think the price point is low enough to make it a reasonable investment for a new podcast trying to get some exposure.
I’ve only had the ClickGrid up for a few weeks so it remains to be seen how well it actually works. So far we have a few “charter advertisors” but it hasn’t started to take off as much as it could. Then again I haven’t done much to push it either. So we’ll see what happens.
