		<description>Having just got canned a week ago, this is painfully relevant to me. 

I&#039;ve been in the owner&#039;s chair letting someone go as well as being let go. There&#039;s just no good way to do it, and there are so many bad employees out there that an employer can&#039;t really take the risk. What SHOULD happen is that employers should take the time and energy to actually talk to an employee and establish a simple improvement plan before things get to this point. And if it&#039;s strictly financial, there should be a little more fair warning and honest conversations with the employee that things might be in jeopardy for them in the future.

You should, however, have gotten two weeks&#039; severance at least. Most companies give more based on years of service. Sounds like you&#039;ve worked for some crappy tech companies, dude!
